Kostas Koukoumakas is a professional journalist based in Athens, Greece. He studied Journalism and Mass Media at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He worked as a reporter for the Greek daily TA NEA from 2008 until 2013. He has been working for VICE since 2014 covering the Criminal Justice and Politics in Greece and Balkans. Part of his work has been published in the BBC News, DIE ZEIT, The Guardian, Balkan Insight, Goethe-Institute Magazine and K Magazine – Kathimerini Newspaper. He has won the Greek-German Journalistic Award “Helen Vlachos” (2015) and the EU Migration Media Award (2019). He co-produced the VICE’s cross border investigation about pregnant women trafficking in the Balkans that has been nominated for the European Press Prize / The Investigative Reporting Award 2017.
