As a relative of people living in Aegina I have been concerned at the speed of so called dementia and neurological problems of the elderly on the island and I was thinking that my relatives should be tested for chronic heavy metals poisoning to rule that out first as it is often missed by doctors who just don’t think of it or just don’t care cos the person is old . Having read this I think that all people /elderly presenting with dementia and/ or neurological problems should be immediately tested for chronic heavy metal poisoning for that to be ruled out first . Question:- are there higher levels of such disease presentations on the island of Aegina and its neighbours? They seem to think here that when someone presents with dementia etc symptoms it is not long before they die -however that is not the norm – normal dementia does not most often mean very fast progressive decline and death. Further research is definitely needed to establish if chronic poisoning is occurring – resulting in disease presentations . I believe many signs of concern will be found .
